Found via BoingBoing, a short animated video that teaches children about the life and work of Ada Lovelace (site requires requires Shockwave/Flash for navigation and to watch the video).

Wednesday 24 March is Ada Lovelace Day – a day when bloggers worldwide acknowledge the work of women in technological fields. If you have a blog, why not sign the pledge and join in?

You could write about someone famous — or you could choose to celebrate the wit and wisdom of the woman who taught you to use a word processor, or that ninja PA who always knows how to fix the photocopier. Perhaps you know a female scientist or a journalist or author who writes about science or technology.  Have you always thought Mary Shelley’s scientific works deserved more recognition? Now’s your chance to set the record straight!

Last year I wrote (on my other blog, Plethaurus) about the Sydney electrical engineer Florence Violet McKenzie, who during WWII trained thousands of Australian and US services personnel in the use of Morse code and communications equipment.

Who will it be this year? You’ll have to visit Plethaurus.com on 24 March to  find out :-)
